Yesterday I spoke of to-do lists - a highly technical topic. There is a danger to list making. Put too little on the list and you don’t accomplish much. Put too much and you make life complicated. It takes work to find that delicate balance, but once you do - it’s quite beautiful. I am not there yet, but I feel close.
Was it Pareto who originally spoke of the 80/20 principal? That can apply to nearly everything. For me, I choose to adapt it to cleaning and my work from home business. In other words, find a way to make your life as efficient as possible because if 20% effort can get you 80% of the way there then… it makes sense ot find your happy 20%.
All I know is I keep writing out lists and changing things around and deciding not to worry about things. For example, one of my writing gigs gives me a certain amount of money. If I spent more time on it - say an hour more a day, I may be able to bring up my earnings by 5 or 10%. But is it worth it? I decided today that no, it isn’t.
It’s all about making your life as efficient as possible. That hour I was going to spend on that one income stream may be better spent starting something new like a new blog or working on more Squidoo lenses. With my business routine, I’ve found peace. With my house cleaning and organizing skills (AKA the Domestic Goddess Project) well that could still use some work.
